Sabancı University School of Languages Trainer Education Program (SLTEP) is a highly prestigious trainer training course designed to provide professional development in the area of language teacher education. SLTEP aims to help participants develop the knowledge, skills and awareness required for effective teacher training with a view to catering for the training and development needs of teachers in their own institutions and in a wider training context. SLTEP has been running since the year 2004 and has just celebrated the completion of its 13th year at its 4th alumni conference and meeting. Starting in 2017, SL instructors have also been invited to join the two-week program at the courtesy of SL with priority given to colleagues who did not participate in previous SLTEPs or in the one-year SL Trainer Training Certificate Program (SLTTP) which was run in the 2003-4; 2005-6 and 2009-10 academic years. SL instructors’ participation in SLTEP continues with a maximum of 2 participants each year. A call for applications is sent via SL e-mail in March. The program runs in the last two weeks of June each year unless otherwise announced.
The SL PowerTech TT Program is designed to provide an introduction to the use of technology in teaching and learning and aims to help English language professionals develop the knowledge, skills and awareness required for the effective integration of technology into classroom practices. The program aims to cater for the training and development needs of participants in their everyday teaching practices and following the Program, encourages them to share their learning and experience with their colleagues and institutions. SL PowerTech TT Program has been running since the year 2015 receiving highly effective feedback from participants. Depending on the teacher resources available during the time the course is run, SL instructors may be invited to join in as participants with application details sent through an announcement via SL email. The program runs in the last week of August each year unless otherwise announced.
